Savan is seeking a Privacy Analyst to support the Department of Commerce (DOC) in implementing and maintaining privacy compliance programs across DOC's mission areas. The Privacy Analyst will assist in the preparation and review of privacy documentation, including Privacy Threshold Analyses (PTAs), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), Systems of Records Notices (SORNs), and related artifacts per the Privacy Act of 1974, E-Government Act of 2002, FISMA, and DOC internal privacy policies. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting federal privacy programs, analyzing information systems for privacy risks, and communicating privacy compliance strategies to diverse stakeholders.

- Prepare, review, and update privacy compliance documentation, including PTAs, PIAs, SORNs, Information Sharing Agreements (ISAs), and Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) assessments.
- Conduct privacy analysis on information systems, programs, and initiatives to identify risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with DOC program managers, system owners, and IT personnel to ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws, regulations, and DOC policies.
- Track and monitor privacy compliance activities, including renewals and updates for PTAs, PIAs, and SORNs, ensuring timely submissions.
- Serve as a liaison between DOC program officials and the Office of Privacy and Open Government (OPOG) or Bureau of Privacy Offices.
- Provide support for Privacy Impact Assessment and System of Records Notice lifecycles, including initial development, revision, renewal, and review processes.
- Analyze survey instruments and data collections for compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act and privacy requirements.
- Participate in privacy risk assessments, data protection reviews, and initiatives to implement Privacy by Design principles.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of privacy-related standard operating procedures, templates, and internal guidance documents.
- Stay abreast of emerging federal privacy policy changes and best practices and support updates to DOC privacy frameworks as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience supporting federal privacy programs.
- Knowledge of the Privacy Act of 1974, E-Government Act of 2002, FISMA, and related privacy and cybersecurity regulations.
- Experience developing and updating PTAs, PIAs, SORNs, and other privacy compliance documentation.
- Familiarity with the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) process and information collection review.
- Ability to communicate complex privacy requirements effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple privacy projects with competing deadlines.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/G, CIPP/US) certification.
- Experience supporting privacy programs at the Department of Commerce or its bureaus.
- Understanding of Privacy by Design and privacy risk management frameworks (e.g., NIST Privacy Framework).
- Experience with privacy case management systems or document tracking tools.
- Familiarity with DOC’s IT and data environment, including cloud and data sharing platforms.
